Get into a formal debate, a debate club or UN simulation. Trust me, it worked for me… I was a shy guy, but I always overhear the news with my grandfather’s TV on and all, so I can recognize the way people talk in big speeches. Just listen to a few, and get in there. You can’t get over a fear unless you do that which scares you the most.
Imagine yourself doing a big speech in front of a big crowd.Like a candiate for president,CEO of a huge cooperation.Ask your family members or friends to be the audiences.
I understand you completely. The only way to get over it is to put yourself in that situation numerous times. Yeah, it is hard to do at first, but eventually you get used to it.
The way I got over it was white -knukle balls to the wall confrontation of my problem.
I went to a poetry thing at my school and read in front of a couple hundred kids from my school.
I didn’t do too well,I was shakey and nervous and I was terrified.
but it helped alot,I realized tht people aren’t as quick to judge as you think.
over time you’ll get better at it.
During class presentations most of the class aren’t really that interested in what your saying anyway and are just waiting for you to finish so they can go for lunch or are busy worrying about there own speechs. A tip is to know your topic well, that way you can do the speech more like a conversation which is easier. Be confident in yourself. If your worried about how you will be percived by the rest of the class just think to your self, Will it matter what the people in your class think in the long run? nope. As long as you pass is all that matters.
just do it. i have always had a fear of public speaking until i joined speech clubs. so maybe join MUN or forensics. you’ll get better as you practice and that’s the only way you can do it.
Do it more often then.
