Systematic Desensitization. Slowly exposed somone to the stimulus that frightens them, bringing it closer and closer over time.
Worked on me with my fear or tarantulas.
Meggie gave you a good answer. A phobia is not necessarily bad. It is nature’s way of telling us to be careful. It’s only when it becomes a handicap that most people seek treatment and sometimes cures itself by gradually being exposed to that danger. We lived in a big city and my wife was scared of spiders, too much so. We shifted to a country town and a few weeks later she walked in with a poisonous spider in her fingers. That’s when I developed Arachnophobia:).
i dont know how it might have been created, but what i do is i just let myself be afraid, and after a while ill start to tell myself that im being stupid and that they are ten times smaller than i am and that they are good because they catch other small bugs. it seems to make them seem less scary to me.
